Why a $15-a-gallon water filter is saving a lot of money at Whole Foods
The biggest water savings from water filters is in making water taste better.
That’s the conclusion of a study by University of Minnesota research researchers.
The researchers, who published their findings in the Journal of Food and Agriculture, said that while they can be effective in reducing the amount of water that enters the water filtration system, it’s important to be sure that the water is filtered to the point that the filter is not leaking.
For this study, they analyzed the water in a water filter made by Nestle and looked at how much water would be lost if the filter was used every day and how much it would take to make up for the water lost.
For the sample size, the researchers analyzed 1,907 samples that were purchased from grocery stores across the United States.
Of those, they determined the water filter was effective in preventing 9.8 gallons of water from being lost per day, with a savings of about 2,000 gallons.

“These filters are not designed to filter out harmful chemicals or pathogens, but to make sure that water is safe to drink and not just a product that comes in the bottle,” said Rachel Bowers, a University of Michigan professor who co-authored the study.
“The cost of these filters is usually comparable to the cost of a new, used water filter, but it can be cheaper to purchase one.”
Bowers said that for most people, this is a non-issue.
“For most people these filters are the least expensive way to use water,” she said.
The study found that people who use a water filters a lot have less water in their body than those who don’t.
Bowers added that many people don’t realize that water filters can be expensive.
“It’s like buying a new car.
The average price is much higher than it should be,” she added.
Water filters also are an effective way to prevent bacteria from getting into your drinking water.
Backs study found water filters reduce bacteria in water by about 40 percent, but they also reduce the amount bacteria in the water that can make people sick by about 30 percent.
The new research showed that the people who had water filters used twice a week and those who used them less frequently also reduced the amount that was in their drinking water by 20 percent.
Bower said it’s still early in the study, and the study is based on a small sample of the total population.
“We’re only talking about people in their 50s or 60s who were at the grocery store or grocery store alone.
We’re not saying they have to be drinking every day,” she explained.
Betsy Adams, a co-author of the study and a senior research associate at the Center for Environmental Health at the University of Illinois, said she thinks it’s too early to tell if water filters will be a big part of people’s water use decisions.
But, she said, there are many things people can do to reduce their water usage to help avoid water-borne illness.
“One of the things that we’re finding is that the filters can help, because they’re designed to be able to filter more water.
But if you do use the filters, it should also be a part of a healthy lifestyle,” Adams said.
“Even if it’s only a small amount of the filter, you can make sure your water is good for you and healthy.”
Adams said it can also be helpful to think about how you can conserve water.
“You might be thinking, well, if I drink water a lot, then I might be drinking it less and less, but I can also drink water that’s a little bit cleaner.
Or I might just drink water with the fresher taste,” she told ABC News.
